First of all a big THANK YOU to
everyone who's supported the event this year. Without the support
of the riders we could never make it as successful as it is.
2007 was another record year in terms of numbers with a total of 235
fully paid up riders entering the event and 225 setting off at the start
line. The current amount raised is £5,070.93 but we're still
waiting on outstanding sponsorship to be handed in so hopefully we'll
get near to the £5,500 mark.
We hope you all
enjoyed the new route. We've had lots of positive comments so far
but if you have any suggestions for next year please don't hesitate to
contact me.
I hope to get a few photos up on the
web site in the next few days so look back soon. We've decided to
make a small charge for copies of the hi-res original all of which will
go to FORCE.
Finally, Kim, Chris an myself would
like to thank all of the friends, parents, wives, partners and
volunteers who have helped put on this event. Without this support
the event would not run.
So why do we run this event?
As the name might suggest we hold this event in memory of Richard
Mallett who loved the sport and the great riding this part of East Devon
contains. Richard who was a founding member of Sid Valley Cycling
Club sadly died of cancer in 2004. FORCE cancer charity were a
great help to Richard and his family and it seemed appropriate to
organise an event which honoured Richard, celebrated the sport which he
loved so much, and raised much needed cash for a worthy cause.
