Malletts Bash FAQ page
Got a question?  Chances are someone's asked it before.  Have a look at our most frequently asked questions.  If you can't see the answer to you question please e-mail me at malletts-bash@svcc.org.uk or phone Chris on 01395 578147 or Adrian on 01404 47534.
If I sign up for the Hard route can I change my mind before the start?
Yes, not a problem.  If you change your mind and want to ride another route before the day just e-mail me at malletts-bash@svcc.org.uk telling me which route you would like to change to.  If you change your mind on the day before you have signed in then we will do our best to give you the correct route map and description but we are unable to guarantee this as we may not have enough spare. If you change your mind while riding then you can switch to a longer or shorter route.  Just let a marshal know and remember to let anyone who's waiting for you at the finish that you are longer or shorter than expected!
If I enter now but can't ride on the day can I have a refund?
We don't often offer refunds as a rule, however we will consider exceptional circumstances.
Is there a minimum age that can take part?
We don't specify a minimum age limit, however any child under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Yong persons between 16 and 18 do not need to be accompanied however they are required to have a signed parental consent form when signing on.  This can be posted before the event or presented on the day. Young persons with out a signed form will not be permitted to ride!  It should also be remembered that even the short route is technically challenging in places therefore we recommend that children have the necessary skills and experience before attempting any of the routes.
Can I camp at Bicton Arena ?
Sorry no, the nearest camp site is at Ladram bay, (less than 10 min from the arena.  You can get more information on their website here.)
Can I enter on the day?
There will be very limited entry on the day as we will restrict the total number of riders this year to 400.  Therefore we do not recommend waiting and just turning up.  You can submit you entry online right up to 23th August, or send a postal entry before 18th August. The cost of entry on the day will be £20.00 per person.
When do I get my route card?
We will give you your route card when you sign in on the morning of the route.  You will also get your event number to attach to your bike.
Where and what time do I need to sign on in the morning?
Sign on is at Bicton Arena. Look for signs around the Arena pointing you in the right direction.  Sign on will be open from 8:00am but remember you need to sign on before 9:30am.
Why do I need to sign in?
It's important for your safety that we know who's out on the course.  In addition you will need to pick up you route cards.
Will there be any food available at the Arena?
Yes, there will be catering at the arena serving Bacon rolls etc.
Do need to wear a helmet on the ride?
Yes, helmets are mandatory.
Can I wear fancy dress on the ride?
Of course, you can wear what you like as long it's not a hazard to you or other riders!
Can I ride but raise money for another charity of my choice?
We work very hard to organise this event and raise much needed cash for FORCE, therefore we prefer if you to raise money exclusively for FORCE.
I've entered online, what happens now?
Once we've received your entry details and payment we will e-mail you your ride brief along with direction to the Arena.  All you need to do then is print out the e-mail and bring it along with you to sign in on the day.
Can I download a map of the route?
There will be a rough map of the course but route cards will not be available for download, sorry.
Do you have the route available as a memory map file suitable for use with GPS equipment?
Yes, this will be available on request to people who have submitted their entries, and once the routes have been finalised.
Where can I get sponsorship forms, fliers, directions, etc. from?
Take a look at our online document page Here.
Will the routes be marked out?

We will be marking out most of the course so you should be able to follow the signs. However we recommend that you pay attention to your route card & map as it has been known for signs to be tampered with.

Will energy drink be available at the checkpoints?
Sorry no, but there will be plenty of water, flapjack, malt loaf etc.
