Sunday 29th October 2006

Event Results Page HERE - Event Photos HERE

Sid valleyCC is proud to host it's third hill climb event in Sidmouth.  The event which is to be held in memory of local hotelier Rodney Pyne is this year a national event.

The course starts at the shelter opposite the Bedford Hotel and finishes between the two car park entrances at the top of the hill. The tough 1 mile closed road course ascends nearly 200m with an average gradient of 20% enough to make the strongest riders legs crumble.   This will be a classic event for riders and spectators with an expected field of 100+ riders it might be possible to see the course record broken currently held by James Dobbin (Derby) in 5 minutes 18 seconds, or can anyone break the 5 minute?  That would be an average speed of 12 mph!

Top UK riders already signed on are last years winner James Dobbin, Matt Clinton U21 British University Champ and top female riders like Ann Bowditch from Guernsey who will be as fast as many male competitors. Local Sid Valley riders Phill and Glen Borrett should feature very well Nationally as well as hoping to take fastest local rider currently held by Neil Tubbs in 6:31.  With  National awards being made in categories from U12 through to 70 we should see all local cyclist take part,  Pictured here is Karl Hodson another strong Sid valley rider hoping to break last years time.

The event will be open to anyone who owns a bike and feels the need to race up Peak Hill!  Click Here for an CTT entry form and Here foe a SVCC Membership form. or contact Neil Tubbs For details
